As spring gives way to early summer, the night sky lights up with one of the most beautiful meteor showers of the year — the Eta Aquariids. In 2025, this meteor shower will peak between May 4th and 6th, with the best viewing time in the early morning hours of May 5th from 3:00 AM to 5:00 AM.
What makes the Eta Aquariids special is their origin: the meteors are fragments left behind by the famous Halley's Comet. As Earth passes through this trail of cosmic debris, these particles enter our atmosphere and burn up, creating brilliant streaks of light across the sky.
With an expected 40–60 meteors per hour during peak, and minimal moonlight interference due to a first quarter moon rising after midnight, this year's conditions are excellent for viewing.
