Best Christmas present ever!; I was floored by viewing the planets and moon through this scope. It was spectacular! The photos are with me just putting my phone up to it. I didn't use my phone mount the first time. I will be using it for my next viewing. I could sit and look at Jupiter and its moons all night. Breathe taking!

Really great beginner telescope--I could see SATURN and it's rings!!!!; I was a little hesitant about getting this telescope because of some of the mixed reviews but when I received it I was very happy with the purchase. This telescope is PERFECT for someone who is a beginner and doesn't want something SUPER expensive but still wants to be able to see the plants, etc. I will be returning it but NOT because it's not a good telescope but rather because I have decided to spend the money on something significantly more expensive (and it's all because THIS telescope was so great that it opened my eyes to what's possible). I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT :) While the instructions aren't super clear for assembling, keep in mind that you need to tighten a lot of little dials (both when putting it together and ALSO when using it). For example, it doesn't clearly tell you that you need to tighten the long black rod when you want the telescope to stay still (and when you want to move it up and down you need to LOOSEN it). I saw some reviews where people wrote that it was impossible to move the telescope up and down--they probably had tightened it all the way which any reasonable person would do but that's why it was impossible to move...I could see how this lack of information could be frustrating to a beginner that needs all the steps clearly spelled out. But again, if you want a high quality telescope without spending more than $400 then I would really recommend this to anyone!

Very good for the price

I’m really impressed with this telescope. It did take me a little bit of time to figure out how to use it but it is my first time ever having one so that’s to be expected. Once I learned how to properly use it though I am obsessed. It’s easy to assemble and the phone adapter with remote to take pictures is wonderful. I do however wish the stand was a bit taller I’m only 5’2” and it’s a bit short for me but that’s my only complaint on it. If I were to look through the scope the whole time it would cause back pains but I put my phone up to it and I’m able to view things just as well if not maybe even better.

Beautiful

Now at first I thought it was broken or I didn't assemble it properly as I kept looking out and it was just pitch black. But then I removed the Barlow lens and just used the regular 10mm one and found something like a star or moon and adjusted the telescope to focus on it.I then removed and fixed the Barlow lens in front of the other lens and bam! There was the moon, you can even spot a detail or two. I'm yet to explore this with the phone but so far, I'm sold!

Great telescope on an affordable budget.

I wanted a quality telescope that was affordable. This telescope definitely fit the bill. A good range of objectives and viewing magnification. I was able to look at Jupiter, visibly seeing four of its moons. I also observed Saturn with its rings. Completely awesomeThe controls are a little less than stout and it takes a gentle touch to make the corrections needed with a fast moving sky. The smart phone mount works very well, but the shutter remote was iffy. I found it easier to just lightly touch the screen to take the picture.I will be mounting mine on a stronger camera tripod in the future, but it's a great telescope for an intermediate viewer or beginner for viewing larger objects like the moon or skiers on Mt. Hood.
